Dawn Dish Soap Tips

Last night while I was chatting with a neighbor we started discussing laundry.

Boring. I know.

However, we were talking about whites (I hate the dreaded whites) and I mentioned that my hubby's whites could really use some extra love - and she told me "Just use a degreaser."

A degreaser? I was thinking that I would need to go out and rummage through home depot looking for a big ole' bucket of something or other to add to my laundry - until she said

"Just use Dawn!"

Duh. Amanda. You have it under your sink. You use it on all your dishes and they are all grease free. And it is simply fabulous!

Of course I did have images of my washing machine bubbling over...

Eager to try it out - I put in a load of whites last night - added detergent, Clorox and a double swirl of Dawn and what do you know - it worked! They look a little better already! After a couple more go arounds in my washer they should be in good shape! You can also use dawn to clean out any black gunk you may have in your washing machine - just run an empty cycle with hot water and some Dawn.

I also learned that you can use Dawn to make an ice pack! Just fill a sandwich bag halfway, double bag it and freeze. The Dawn will get really cold but won't entirely freeze making it super easy to bend and fold over those achy joints. Brilliant!

So go do yourself some whites, make some emergency ice packs, have a coke and don't forget to email me about the Fall Exchange! I would love to see you all there. I am getting more and more excited as more people enter!

ps. Dawn did not pay me anything to say all that awesome stuff -
I just really love them!

Fabric Choices

Confession: My baby girl is scheduled to be here in 14 weeks and I haven't done ONE thing to get ready for her. (Okay maybe I did buy some newborn diapers - but that is all!)

The problem I am having is I don't know what I want to do for her room- there are SO many cute fabric choices out there and I am finding myself so totally indecisive.

Do I want to go BOLD and Bright was a pattern like this:

Henry Glass Fabrics: Heather Mulder Peterson: Sanibel

Or do I want to keep it Soft and go with browns, whites and pinks - something like this? Pink Damask - By Michael Miller

I have been to a dozen awesome fabric stores and I just can't make up my mind - There are just too many choices!

Make a Framed Monogram Door Hanger

I love those cute little monogram EVERYTHING that we have been seeing all over the crafty blogs lately and I decided to make my own. You know when you see cute ones all over and then you go to find the links and spend an hour looking for just one - and can't find one? That happened to me - but you know they are out there!

First:  I gathered together all my supplies. (and the best part was I had all of them handy so I didn't have to change out of my pj's to run to the store for anything! saaaawwwweeeet!)

You will need:
A Frame
Mod Podge
A Letter
A Staple gun
Scrapbook Paper

Second: I took my frame out back and sprayed it blue - no picture because you all know how to spray paint!

Third: I traced my letter backwards, on the back of my paper so it wouldn't leave any trace lines, then I cut it out.

Fourth: I Mod Podged the paper onto my wooden letter.

Fifth: I let the letter completely dry and then I sanded the edges that were a little bit funky off.

Sixth: I looped the ribbon through the letter J and around the frame and tied a bow.

Seventh: I created a loop with the same ribbon and stapled it into place so my frame would hang. I also stapled the ribbon that was tied into place so it wouldn't shift around either. Easy Peasy!

Lastly, I hung it up on my door!
It was so, so, so easy!

And I love it!!

(I wish my little silver "knocker" wasn't in the way though -
o-well, it is still super cute!)

Super Easy Peasy Doughnuts

Super Easy Peasy Doughnuts!

or is it donuts?

Either way - these will the be easiest doughnuts you will ever make!
And so yummy too!

First off start of with premade biscuits.

Take you fingers and stretch them out a little bit and make a hole.
If you really want to go all out, you can punch out a hole and make doughnut holes - since I was going for easy - I didn't bother.

Fry up the dough... until both sides are golden brown.

The dough will poof up in the oil.

Using the dough I did, I came out with 10 perfect little doughnuts!

Now it's time to glaze!

You will need:
 1/4 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
and 2 cups powdered sugar

Mix the milk and vanilla together in a pan on low heat until warm.

Add in the powdered sugar and whisk until blended.
I let it boil up a little bit and then remove it from the heat.

Dip your finished doughnuts in your glaze -

Set aside to dry for about 5 minutes and enjoy!

You can do all different kinds of glazes or add chocolate or maple frosting if you would like! Anyway you do it - they are so yummy!

P.S. Remember that the Charm Necklace Giveaway closes tomorrow night so hurry and get your entries in!

Weekend Plans

When I was really little, my parents had a bedroom set -
They bought a beautiful new set and passed their old one on to us girls.
I think each of my sisters and I have each had a turn to store our clothes and cherished items in that set - and somehow as we got older, that bedroom set ended up in storage at my home.

I decided to get it out of storage and put it to good use -
It still has a lot of life if I just show it a little love -

So this weekend I will be sanding and puttying and priming and painting - and waiting impatiently for it to dry so I can have my hubby haul it all upstairs to our bedroom!

Wish me Luck!

What are you ladies working on this weekend?
A furniture redo? A crafty project? A tan (it is 100 degrees you know!)?
