Mock {Photo Room} Display–Hanging photos on wire!

how to decorate with family photos

On of the worst things for me about my kids growing up and having more photo shoots is that I cannot possibly keep up all the previous photos too – so I am constantly switching photos out of frames (I hate that kids grow so quickly {frowny face}) –  I miss seeing some of my favorite ones from when they were really little (I mean my oldest is only 2 – but still!) This is where my next display is awesome – because I can add to it but still keep the older photos up too! A win-win for me!!

The wall above my sons bed was totally bare and I had been wanting to do some sort of photo collage but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do – I have put a lot of thought and ideas into this wall, but nothing ever felt … right.

I was at IKEA roaming around and I saw these fun little packages …

… and the idea just clicked – I would hang the photos on wire and  it would be perfect for the space! I just knew that it would be fun and fresh looking without being too “girly” or overdone.  I took it home and immediately installed it and love it! Then I gathered up a bunch of pictures I had filed in drawers and voilà!! I used 8x10, 5x7 and 4x6 photos to give it a bunch of variety. Just look at my handsome boy …

It is so fun to see how much he has changed in the past 2 years – I love seeing his newborn pictures next to his 2 year old pictures!

And I absolutely adore the fun little metal clips – It makes it so easy to change them out and add more.
I bought an extra box of clips so I can add more photos as I feel like it.

As he grows and gets a little older – I also think it will be fun to add his “art” work onto the line.
Just a fun combo of darling pictures of him and his imagination!!

On a funny note: When I was all done with it, I asked him who was in all those pictures and he stood there really serious and looked at them all back and forth and then pointing to the one on the end said “TENIE!” {Tenley – his sister!} Not him, just his sister! He cracks me up!!

I love how this can be personalized [and repersonalized!]

do the clips leave dents in the pictures?

This is cool! I recently saw a similar idea like this at a coffee shop, but this is much more clean looking than theirs!

Love the hangline style. I did a VERY simple and elementary type craft similar to this - clothespin magnet hangline. You can see it @ www.dottedlinecrafts.blogspot.com

Thanks for sharing!!
