White Ruffle Curtains

How was your Fourth of July??
Our family hosted a fun family BBQ lunch with tons of food – including this yummy macaroni salad! Then we took naps and headed out the city carnival, went to the Rodeo and finished up with Fireworks in the park!
It was great day to be together and we ate way more cotton candy than we should have – but it was so fun!!

I have been busy with the kids rooms {surprise!} and have a fun project to share today! A couple years ago my sister made some ruffle curtains for her daughters room and I have always loved them and thought they were so cute so when I was thinking about how I wanted to bring more white into Tenley’s room I immediately thought of those curtains.

For this project, I measured how long I would need each panel and then added on five extra inches for the curtain rod and hemming at the bottom. I wanted the panels to be 84 inches – so I cut each piece to be 89. I opted to go for three panels for her room, I felt like four would be way too bunchy and two wasn’t full enough. I hemmed the top for the curtain rod and the bottom using a straight stitch.

For the ruffles at the bottom I went with three rows.
Each ruffle is four inches wide.
To make the ruffles I cut four inch strips of fabric and used two and half strips for each row.
I sewed the strips together and then using a zig zag stitch – stitched the edges.

Then I simply basted along the middle and scrunched them up to my desire – pinned them in place and sewed them on. I sewed each of them about an inch away from each other.

I love how fun and playful they are and how much light/white they bring to that section of the room

I also completely adore the contrast of the white against the turquoise walls – so pretty!!
