Simple First Aid Kits

The longer I am a mom – the more prepared I feel I need to be for every. single. situation. And with my kiddos getting bigger and wanting to do everything on their own – they are more prone to cuts and scraps – which means band-aids (and lots of kisses!) We have a large first aid kit at home and a smaller version in our car, but I was thinking about how nice it would be to have a simple first aid to slip into a purse or diaper bag or backpack!

I found some tins as I was cleaning up and going through my crafting supplies and knew they would be perfect for a cute little first aid kit – You can find them here on-line. They are 7 oz. lightweight and steady, have a clear top and snap closed pretty tight. I have used them for Christmas Gifts and Thinking of You gifts and love them! If you are an avid Altoid eater – you could even use Altoid tins.

Then I gathered up a bunch of first aid supplies: Different sizes of Band-Aids, Non-stick pads, butterfly closures, alcohol swabs, ointment, cotton balls and Q-tips. I was making about 10 of these and didn’t want to spend a lot of money on Neosporin so I headed to my closest Urgent Care and told the front desk what I was doing and asked for some little packets of the ointment and they were more than happy to oblige and they were the perfect size.

Then I put all the stuff into each tin.

Of course I needed a super cute label for the first aid kit! They were so simple to make! I used my Silhouette and designed my label in the software on my computer.

I used the print and cut feature and printed the labels onto printable vinyl. Have you heard of printable vinyl?

I bought some a little bit ago from Craft Vinyl but didn’t know what to use it for – but it is really pretty awesome. You can turn anything you want into vinyl! And if you don’t have a Silhouette don’t fret, simply design it in whatever program you like, print it onto the vinyl and cut it out with scissors – no problemo!  Peel it off and stick it on and your done!!

There are a lot of things you can add to make it personal for your family and kids so make them unique for you! But I promise you will feel so much better being a bit more prepared!

Such a great idea for a small first aid kit.

This is a great idea. Need one for my car, hubs truck, and my purse. Sometimes it is just one more thing to add to what I haul around, but this isn't huge and will be so worth it. Thanks for the idea!

I love this idea! I've found myself needing a first aid kit more times than I care to admit. :) I think I'll be doing this soon! Thanks for sharing.
