Fall Fever: Please Welcome Bev of Flamingo Toes!

Hello Every Creative Endeavor Readers!! I am so excited to be here as part of Amanda's Fall Fever Series! My name is Bev and I blog over at Flamingo Toes.

I LOVE Halloween - after Christmas it is my favorite Holiday to decorate for! I love making sure there are touches of Halloween in every room - which means finding quick and cute projects to decorate with! That's what I'm sharing today! These go together really fast and you can change them up super easily for any colors or decor! Here are my little Yarn Wrapped Halloween Trees!

Aren't they cute? (We pretty much go for the cute Halloween instead of the scary Halloween) They have little glitter skeleton heads to top them off - because you just can't have enough glitter in a display - especially at Halloween. Ok - here's what you'll need to make your own!

  • Styrofoam Cones
  • Yarn in two colors
  • Ribbon for top
  • Skeleton or something else cute to top with
  • Hot glue
  • Ruler & Marking Pen

Start by marking out your strips on your cones. This will help your rows to stay straight as you wrap. The first one is a 12" cone and I marked it at every inch, three places around the cone.

Begin wrapping at the bottom of the code, adding little bits of hot glue every so often to hold the yarn in place.
Continue wrapping and gluing your yarn - this is so easy it hardly needs a tutorial. :) And it's perfect for setting up on a little tray and doing while you
watch tv.

When you get to the top, wrap the yarn around the top flat portion of the cone to cover everything. Now - you'll notice I have some glue that's showing through the black a bit.

Just color over the glue with a Sharpie that's close to the color of the yarn! That will make the glue not so noticeable.

Repeat the process for as many cones as you'd like to make! On the smaller one I changed up the stripes a little. I think they have a kind of Beetlejuice thing going for them -

To finish them off with a little bling, I tied some bows in Damask Ribbon and pinned them to the top of the cones. Then I glued some little glittered skulls I'd made a few years ago to the top of the ribbon.

The pins make it super easy to change out the toppers next year - if I want to go with hot pink or orange or something!

I've grouped them together with my little Target Dollar Bin finds - both the Pumpkin and the Boo came from there!

I hope you like them! They'd be perfect to throw together in an afternoon to dress up a little corner that needs some Halloween Spirit! I'd love for you to come say hi at Flamingo Toes - and if you want to check out my other projects that would be fun too. :) My Holiday Tutorials page has some fun Halloween tutorials! Thank you so much for including me in your Fall Series Amanda! :)

Thanks for joining us today for Fall Fever!!  Your Halloween display is darling!!! I love the sparkly skulls!

Oh my word... you would NOT BELIEVE (am I shouting?) how happy I am you shared this idea!
I am going with a Tim Burton- theme this Hallowe'en (all black, white and purple) and this is exactly what I needed. Bang- on. I have black and white striped picture frames with book pages describing gruesome murders in them, and I could really set them off with those.. well, cones, just in purple and black.
You are my superheroine today. Ach, what am I saying, this month. Year. Why didn't I think of this?
